The TCAAC Board was joined by Canal Music Fest presenting sponsors Edison Community College and Thrivent Financial Associate Matt Buehrer, at their May 12 meeting. Bruce McKenzie, Director of Marketing and Communication at Edison Community College and Matt Buehrer, local Thrivent Financial Associate each presented a check for $5,000 to Brian Blake, TCAAC President and JJ Slanker, Canal Music Fest Chair. These donations represent the single largest donations received to date in support of the Canal Music Fest. “We are so fortunate to have this type of support from area leaders. We certainly could not do this without them,” responded JJ Slanker.
This is not the first time that Edison and Thrivent Associate Matt Buehrer have supported the Canal Music Fest. Both were platinum sponsors in 2014. When asked what was behind their continued support of the TCAAC and Canal Music Fest, Bruce McKenzie stated, “Edison Community College is proud to support the arts and events that celebrate the arts within our community. Art is an important part of the Edison curriculum, and we value our interaction with the community in supporting events like this. It’s a pleasure working with the Tipp City Area Arts Council, and if this year’s Canal Music Fest is anything like last year’s, it will be a great time for the whole family and the community.”
Thrivent’s Matt Buehrer added, "The arts are an essential element of a thriving community. What better way to show generosity then to support a great venue like the Canal Music Fest. This free event brings families and friends together creating a wonderful sense of community, making Tipp City a wonderful place to call home."
TCAAC President Bryan Blake commented, “On behalf of the TCAAC, the Canal Music Fest committee and the community as a whole, I would like to thank Edison Community College and Thrivent Financial Associate Matt Buehrer, as well as all of our other sponsors, vendors and volunteers for the support that has enabled us to host this free event for six years”.
